How Home Phone Protection Works

Gini places a single test call to your home number. If forwarding is on, it never rings the house — the call arrives at Gini instead. This takes under a minute.
Step 3: Gini answers your home phone calls
Every caller is asked who they are and why they are calling. Spam and robocalls never get through, and scammers typically hang up within seconds rather than identify themselves.
Step 4: Real callers reach you
Your doctor, your pharmacy, your family — they are connected to you in the Gini app, with their name and reason displayed. Missed callers can leave a message that Gini transcribes.
What Changes at Home
Your home phone stops ringing. That is how the protection works, but it is worth saying plainly: calls to your home number come to the Gini app instead of the handset in your kitchen.
You will need the Gini app on a smartphone. Screened callers are delivered to the app, so home phone protection works alongside a smartphone rather than instead of one.

Answering the Call vs. Blocking a Number
Robocall blockers check an incoming number against a list of numbers already known to be bad. Scammers buy new numbers by the thousand, so a blocklist is always a step behind. Gini answers the call instead and asks the caller to identify themselves, which means a brand-new number is no advantage to a scammer.
