Frequently Asked Questions for New Users

Here are answers to the questions we hear most often from people just getting started with Gini Help.

About Gini Help

What exactly does Gini Help do?

Gini Help protects you in three ways:

  1. Phone calls - Our AI screens calls you don't answer and tells you who called and why
  2. Emails - We scan your inbox for phishing scams that try to steal your information
  3. Text messages - We filter spam and scam texts so they don't bother you

Is Gini Help safe to use?

Yes. We're a legitimate company focused on protecting people from scams. We use bank-level encryption, we don't sell your data, and you can delete your account anytime.

Does Gini cost money?

Yes, Gini Help is a paid subscription. Plans start at $6.99 a month.

Premium Plus ($9.99/mo) and Premium Plus + Home Phone monthly ($12.99/mo) start with a free week. A payment method is required to start it, and the subscription continues automatically when the week ends unless you cancel first.

See "Understanding Gini Help Plans and Pricing" for the full list.

Setup Questions

Do I need to do anything special to my phone?

For call protection, you'll need to set up call forwarding by dialing a code. The app guides you through this. Email and text protection work through the app without changing phone settings.

What if I'm not tech-savvy?

Gini is designed for everyone, including people who aren't comfortable with technology. We use simple language, clear instructions, and you can always contact support for help.

Can I skip parts of the setup?

Yes. You can set up just the features you want and add others later. You don't have to use all three types of protection.

Will this change how my phone works?

Your phone works normally. The only change is that missed calls go to Gini instead of your regular voicemail.

Call Screening

Will my phone still ring?

Yes! Your phone rings normally. Gini only gets involved when you don't answer - then it screens the call for you.

Do I have to talk to the AI?

No, you don't. The AI talks to the caller, not to you. You just receive a notification about who called.

What if I miss an important call?

Gini tells you who called and why, so you can call them back. Plus, you can add important people to your Allow List so their calls always come through.

Can scammers still leave me voicemail?

When call forwarding is active, missed calls go to Gini instead of your carrier voicemail. Gini screens the caller and sends you a summary. You can also listen to the screening recording.

Email Protection

Does Gini read my emails?

Our AI scans for scam patterns, but no human ever reads your emails. We look for threats, not content.

Will my email look different?

Your email inbox looks exactly the same. You just see warnings in the Gini app when we detect phishing.

Which email providers work?

Gmail and Outlook are fully supported. Some other providers work with additional setup.

Text Protection

Does Gini read all my texts?

No. Gini only scans messages from unknown senders (people not in your contacts). Messages from your contacts are never analyzed.

Where do spam texts go?

They go to a "Held Messages" folder where you can review them. Nothing is deleted without your permission.

Account & Privacy

Can I use Gini on multiple phones?

Each phone needs its own setup. Family Plans allow multiple people to be protected under one subscription.

Is my information private?

Yes. We never sell your data, we don't show ads, and your information is encrypted. See our privacy guide for complete details.

Can I delete my account?

Yes, anytime. Go to Settings > Privacy > Delete My Account. All your data is permanently erased.

Troubleshooting

Why am I not getting screening notifications?

Make sure notifications are enabled for Gini in your phone's settings, and that call forwarding is set up correctly.

The setup isn't working

Try these steps:

  1. Make sure you have a good internet connection
  2. Check that you selected the right phone carrier
  3. If dialing codes don't work, contact your carrier

For specific issues, see our troubleshooting guides.
