Android-Specific Call Forwarding Tips

Different Android phones can have different settings. Here are tips to make sure call forwarding to Gini works properly on your Android device.

Setting Up Call Forwarding

Using Dial Codes (Recommended)

  1. Open the Phone app (your dialer)
  2. Tap the keypad
  3. Enter the forwarding code from the Gini app
  4. Tap the Call button
  5. Wait for confirmation

Using Phone Settings (Some Phones)

Some Android phones let you set call forwarding in Settings:

Samsung:

  1. Open Phone app
  2. Tap the three dots (menu)
  3. Tap Settings > Supplementary services > Call forwarding
  4. Enter Gini's number: 14149854464

Google Pixel:

  1. Open Phone app
  2. Tap the three dots > Settings
  3. Tap Calls > Call forwarding
  4. Configure each forwarding condition

Other Android phones: Look in Settings > Call settings or Phone > Settings

Note: The Settings method may only support some forwarding conditions. Dial codes offer more control.

Common Android Issues

Calls Going to Google Voice

If you use Google Voice, it may intercept calls before they reach Gini.

Solution:

  1. Open the Google Voice app
  2. Go to Settings
  3. Adjust call forwarding settings
  4. Or temporarily disable Google Voice features

Visual Voicemail Interference

Some carriers' visual voicemail can interfere with call forwarding.

Solution:

  1. Open your carrier's voicemail app
  2. Look for settings or preferences
  3. Try disabling visual voicemail temporarily
  4. Test call forwarding

Samsung Spam Call Blocking

Samsung phones have built-in spam blocking that can conflict with Gini.

Solution:

  1. Open the Phone app
  2. Tap menu > Settings
  3. Find Caller ID and spam protection
  4. Consider turning it off (Gini handles this now)

Forwarding Codes Don't Work

If dialing codes fails:

  1. Check your carrier - Make sure you selected the right one in Gini
  2. Try alternate codes - Some carriers have multiple code formats
  3. Contact your carrier - Ask them to enable call forwarding
  4. Use carrier app/website - Some carriers require setup through their portal

Checking If Forwarding Is Active

Method 1: Dial Status Codes

For GSM carriers (AT&T, T-Mobile):

  • Dial *#21# and tap Call
  • You'll see your forwarding status

Method 2: Check Phone Settings

  1. Go to Phone app > Settings
  2. Look for Call forwarding section
  3. Check if Gini's number is listed

Method 3: Test It

  1. Have someone call your phone
  2. Don't answer
  3. Check Gini for a notification about the screened call

Dual SIM Phones

Many Android phones support two SIM cards. If yours does:

  • Set up forwarding for each line separately
  • In Gini, make sure you're protecting the correct number
  • Each SIM needs its own forwarding codes

To set up for a specific SIM:

  1. Open Phone app
  2. Go to Settings
  3. Select the SIM you want to configure
  4. Set up forwarding for that SIM

Wi-Fi Calling

Wi-Fi calling usually works fine with call forwarding. If you have issues:

  1. Go to Settings > Network > Wi-Fi Calling
  2. Try turning it off temporarily
  3. Test call forwarding
  4. Turn Wi-Fi Calling back on

Tips for Success

  1. Use dial codes first - They're most reliable across all Android phones
  2. Restart after setup - Sometimes a restart helps activate forwarding
  3. Test it - Always have someone call you to confirm it works
  4. Write down your carrier - Know which carrier you have for the right codes
