How to Turn Off Call Protection Temporarily

Sometimes you need calls to ring through without screening - like when expecting a delivery or an important callback. Here's how to pause Gini's call protection.

When You Might Want to Pause

  • Waiting for a delivery driver to call
  • Expecting a callback from someone new
  • Troubleshooting phone issues
  • Any time you want direct calls temporarily

How to Pause Call Screening

Method 1: Disable Call Forwarding (Recommended)

The most reliable way is to disable call forwarding:

  1. Open your phone's dial pad
  2. Dial the disable code for your carrier:
    • AT&T/T-Mobile: ##002# (disables all forwarding)
    • Verizon: *73 (disables all forwarding)
  3. Tap Call
  4. Wait for confirmation

Your calls will now ring directly on your phone without going to Gini.

Method 2: From the Gini App

  1. Open Gini Help
  2. Tap Settings
  3. Tap Call Protection
  4. Toggle Call Screening to OFF
  5. Protection is paused

Note: This toggle may still require call forwarding to be disabled at the carrier level.

Turning Protection Back On

If You Disabled Forwarding:

Re-dial the forwarding codes from the Gini app:

  1. Open Gini Help
  2. Go to Settings > Call Protection
  3. Select your carrier if needed
  4. Dial the enable codes shown

If You Used the App Toggle:

  1. Open Gini Help
  2. Go to Settings > Call Protection
  3. Toggle Call Screening to ON

Quick Tips

  • Keep the Gini app handy - It shows the codes you need
  • Set a reminder - Don't forget to turn protection back on
  • Add expected callers to Allow List instead - If you know who's calling, adding them as a VIP is better than turning off all protection

What Happens While Paused

When call protection is paused:

  • All calls ring directly on your phone
  • No screening happens
  • Missed calls go to your regular carrier voicemail
  • You're not protected from scam calls

Remember to Turn It Back On

It's easy to forget to re-enable protection. Consider:

  • Setting a phone reminder for later
  • Re-enabling as soon as your expected call arrives
  • Adding specific numbers to your Allow List instead of pausing everything
