SMS Protection Device Limit

SMS protection works on a per-device basis. Here's what you need to know about device limits.

How It Works

SMS protection is tied to the device where it's set up, not just your account. This is because text messages are stored on your phone, and filtering happens at the device level.

Individual Plan

With an Individual Plan:

  • SMS protection can be active on one device at a time
  • If you set up a new device, the old one may be deactivated

Family Plan

With a Family Plan:

  • Each family member can protect their own device
  • Up to 5 people means up to 5 devices
  • Each person sets up their own SMS protection

Switching Devices

If you get a new phone:

  1. Download Gini Help on your new device
  2. Sign in to your account
  3. Set up SMS protection on the new phone
  4. The old device's SMS protection will stop working

You don't need to do anything on the old device.

Multiple Devices, One Person

If you have multiple phones (like a work phone and personal phone):

  • Your plan typically supports one device for SMS protection
  • You'd need to choose which device to protect
  • Or upgrade to a Family Plan for additional device slots

Why This Limit Exists

SMS filtering requires:

  • Deep integration with your device's messaging system
  • Permission to read and filter messages
  • Local processing on the device

This makes it device-specific rather than account-wide.
