Your Data Security Questions Answered

Here are answers to the most common questions about how Gini Help protects your data and privacy.

General Security

Is Gini Help safe to use?

Yes. Gini Help is designed with security as a top priority. We use bank-level encryption, secure servers, and follow industry best practices to protect your information. We're a legitimate company focused on protecting people from scams.

How do I know Gini isn't a scam itself?

Great question - it's smart to be careful! Here's why you can trust Gini:

  • We're a registered company with a real team and physical address
  • Our app is available on the official Apple App Store and Google Play Store (they review apps for security)
  • We have clear privacy policies and terms of service
  • We don't ask for sensitive information like Social Security numbers or bank passwords
  • You can delete your account and data at any time

Who owns my data?

You do. We store your data to provide the service, but it belongs to you. You can access it, export it, or delete it whenever you want.

Call Screening Security

Are my phone conversations recorded?

No. Gini only records the screening conversation - when a caller talks to our AI assistant. We never record:

  • Calls you answer yourself
  • Calls between you and another person
  • Calls from your Allow List (these don't go to screening)

Who can listen to my call screening recordings?

Only you can access recordings of your screened calls. No Gini employee listens to your recordings unless:

  • You specifically request support that requires it
  • We're legally compelled by law enforcement with a valid warrant

How long are call recordings kept?

Call recordings are automatically deleted after 90 days. You can also delete them manually at any time through the app.

What if someone spoofs a number on my Allow List?

Scammers can sometimes fake phone numbers ("spoofing"). If a call from an Allow List number seems suspicious, it might be spoofed. Gini can't detect spoofing because it's done at the phone network level. If you're ever unsure, hang up and call the person back using a number you know is real.

Email Security

Does Gini read my emails?

Our AI scans your emails for scam patterns, but no human reads them. The AI looks for things like:

  • Suspicious sender addresses
  • Dangerous links
  • Urgent language typical of scams

It doesn't understand or care about the personal content of your messages.

Do you store copies of my emails?

No. We analyze emails in real-time and only store records of which emails were flagged as suspicious (sender, subject, threat type). We don't copy your actual email content.

Is my email password safe?

We never see your email password. When you connect Gmail or Outlook, you sign in directly with Google or Microsoft. They give us a secure "token" to access your email - we never have your actual password.

What happens if I disconnect my email?

We immediately lose access to your email. The connection token is deleted, and we can't scan any more emails. Any records of previously flagged emails are kept according to our retention policy, but you can request their deletion.

Text Message Security

Does Gini read all my text messages?

No. Gini only scans:

  • Messages from unknown senders (people not in your contacts)
  • Messages that your phone's filtering system sends to us

We never read messages between you and your contacts.

Are my text messages stored on your servers?

For most SMS scanning, the messages never leave your phone. We store only:

  • Information about filtered messages (sender number, why it was flagged)
  • We don't store the actual message content

Account Security

How is my password protected?

Your password is encrypted using strong, one-way hashing. This means:

  • We can verify your password when you log in
  • But we can't see what your actual password is
  • Even if someone accessed our database, they couldn't read your password

What if my phone is lost or stolen?

If your phone is lost or stolen:

  1. Sign in to Gini on another device and change your password
  2. Contact us to secure your account
  3. We can sign out all devices remotely
  4. Your data remains encrypted and protected

Does Gini have two-factor authentication?

Yes, you can enable 2-step sign-in for extra security. This requires both your password and a code sent to your phone or email to sign in. See "Two-Factor Authentication (2-Step Sign-In)" for setup instructions.

Can someone hack into my Gini account?

We use multiple security measures to prevent unauthorized access:

  • Encrypted passwords
  • Optional two-factor authentication
  • Automatic lockout after failed login attempts
  • Secure session management

Following good security practices (strong password, 2-step sign-in) makes your account very secure.

Data Requests

Can police or government access my data?

We only provide data to law enforcement when legally required, such as with a valid warrant or court order. We'll:

  • Require proper legal process
  • Provide only what's specifically requested
  • Notify you if we're legally permitted to

Can I get a copy of all my data?

Yes. You can request a data export through the app or by contacting support. We'll provide all the data we have about you in a readable format.

How do I delete all my data?

Go to Settings > Security > Delete My Account. This permanently deletes:

  • Your account
  • All call recordings
  • Call and text history
  • Email connection data
  • All personal information

This action cannot be undone.

Company Security

How does Gini protect its systems?

Our security measures include:

  • Regular security audits by independent experts
  • Encrypted data storage and transmission
  • Secure cloud infrastructure with 24/7 monitoring
  • Employee security training
  • Strict access controls
  • Regular software updates

Has Gini ever had a data breach?

As of now, Gini has not experienced a data breach. We work hard to keep it that way through continuous security monitoring and improvements.

Where is my data stored?

Your data is stored on secure servers in the United States, operated by trusted cloud providers with strong security certifications.
