Why Was I Charged?

If you see a charge from Gini Help that you weren't expecting, here are the most common explanations.

Common Reasons for Charges

Subscription Renewal

Gini subscriptions automatically renew. If you see a charge:

  • Monthly plans renew each month on your billing date
  • Annual plans renew once per year

Check your subscription status in Settings > Plan and Billing.

Your Free Week Ended

This is the most common reason for an unexpected first charge.

If you started on a plan with a free week, that week does not simply stop — the subscription continues and the first payment is taken automatically on the day it ends. To avoid the charge, the subscription has to be cancelled before the last day of the free week.

If this just happened to you and you did not intend to continue, you can request a refund from Apple or Google. See "How to Cancel Your Subscription" for how to do both.

Plan Upgrade

If you upgraded — Premium to Premium Plus, added Home Phone, or moved to a Family plan — you may see:

  • A prorated charge for the current period
  • The new plan price going forward

Annual Payment

Annual subscriptions charge once per year. If you subscribed annually, you may have forgotten about the upcoming renewal.

Checking Your Subscription

To see your current plan and billing:

  1. Open Gini Help
  2. Go to Settings > Plan and Billing
  3. Review your plan type and next billing date

If You Didn't Subscribe

Check for Other Users

On a Family Plan, the owner sees charges. Family members don't pay separately.

Check Apple/Google Subscriptions

Subscriptions are managed through Apple or Google:

iPhone:

  1. Open Settings > tap your name > Subscriptions
  2. Look for Gini Help
  3. See billing details and status

Android:

  1. Open Google Play > profile > Payments & subscriptions > Subscriptions
  2. Find Gini Help
  3. Review the subscription

Someone Else Used Your Account

If someone else has access to your Apple ID or Google account, they may have subscribed without your knowledge.

Requesting a Refund

If you believe you were charged incorrectly:

Apple (iPhone)

  1. Go to reportaproblem.apple.com
  2. Sign in with your Apple ID
  3. Find the Gini Help charge
  4. Tap Report a Problem
  5. Select the issue and request a refund

Google Play (Android)

  1. Open Google Play Store
  2. Tap profile > Payments & subscriptions > Budget & history
  3. Find the Gini Help charge
  4. Tap Report a problem
  5. Request a refund

Refunds are at Apple's or Google's discretion based on their policies.

Preventing Future Charges

Cancel Your Subscription

To stop future charges, cancel your subscription:

  • See "How to Cancel Your Subscription"
  • Cancel through Apple Settings or Google Play
  • You keep access until the end of your current period

Turn Off Auto-Renewal

In your subscription settings (Apple or Google), you can turn off auto-renewal. Your subscription won't renew when the current period ends.

Still Have Questions?
